Four Main Components Of A Desktop Computer
With a desktop, the four components are individual pieces. If one component is missing, your desktop PC won't be complete and would probably be useless. So here are the components of a desktop PC.
1. CPU. This stands for Central Processing Unit. The CPU is often considered as the brain of the computer because without it, your computer won't function. The CPU is that black or white rectangular box on top of your computer table, beside it or below it.
Inside the CPU is the processor, the motherboard, the hard disk and your power supply. The parts inside the CPU are pretty much like the brain because if one part fails, your computer won't be able to function the way it is supposed to. It is utterly impossible to have a computer without a CPU.
2. Monitor. This looks more like a 14 inch television but the monitor is what enables you to view things. Your CPU may work, but you won't get anything done unless you have the monitor.
The quality of the graphics you see will depend on your video card. The better the video, the better the graphics you see. High-end video cards are usually recommended for desktop computers being used for online games because this will provide crispier images allowing the player the feel the game. It will also benefit you if you like watching movies on your computer.
Years ago, monitors used to be bulky that take up so much space. But now, it has been replaced with LCD monitors. It provides clearer images and takes up less space. There are various monitor sizes. It can be 15 inches small, 17 inches, 19 inches and so on and so forth. Whatever the size, you should pick the one you are comfortable with. If it is hurting your eyes, you can always adjust the display settings.
3. Keyboard. Long ago people use typewriters to type their documents. Using it was rather challenging because you if you made one or two mistakes, you will have to start all over again.
The keyboard is the modern version of the typewriter, only this time you don't have to worry about making mistakes because if you type the wrong word or letter, all you have to do is press the backspace button. No need to start from scratch again.
Keyboards have different types too; there is the flexible keyboard, the multimedia keyboard, the mini keyboard and the wireless keyboard. The keyboard is important especially if you are doing a lot of typing like research, work papers and even calculations. Without the keyboard, you wouldn't be able to do any of those.
4. Mouse. As to why it is called a mouse is hard to explain. The mouse is that tiny thing you use to navigate through the desktop. It also makes surfing the net easier than using your scroll keys on the keyboard. Using the mouse, you can click the icons you see on your monitor as well as click on the links of websites.
