Five Things To Consider When Buying A Laptop

If you come to think about it, almost everyone has a laptop so you might end up wanting one too. But before you buy one, you might want to consider some things.

1. Size. For first time laptop buyers, the size has always been an issue. Laptops can be as small as 15mm with 10 inch screens or as big as 50 mm.

The laptop has been divided into categories based on the size, the smallest one being called the netbook and the big ones called desktop replacements. Of course, do not expect the net book to have the same capacity as the desktop replacements. Most of the time, netbooks are ideal for people who only intend to use it for internet access and documents.

If you are a businessman and are always on the go, then you might want to settle with the ultraportable laptops. On the other hand, if you are the all around person and want an all around laptop that you can use for documentation, downloading, streaming and many more, then there is always the maintsream laptop that is built to cater to your every need.

The thin and light kind of laptops, on the other hand, provides more mobility for those people who are always on the go or traveling without sacrificing its capacity. In other words, it is a combination of the mainstream and ultraportable laptops, a 2 in 1 combo.

2. Operating system. There are a lot of operating systems available or pre-installed. These operating systems can either be Windows, Mac or Linux. Each operating system has its advantages and disadvantages so it would be a great idea if you read about each operating system. It is hard to tell which OS is the best, but the point is you will have to choose something that you know how to manipulate or you should choose something that you are comfortable using.

3. Battery life. Who would want to keep on charging their laptop? Who would want to use their laptop with the extension cord plugged in? Of course, it would be better if you can use your laptop for hours without having to charge it or having to use the extension cord.

Laptops are for people on the go so if you are tied down with an extension cord most of the time, then it defeats the purpose of being portable. So if you don't want this kind of scenario, then you might want to consider the battery life of the laptop you are planning to buy. A laptop that can go on for seven hours while you are using it is already a good deal. Always check the battery and inquire about the battery life.

4. Internet access or wireless capacity. Unlike desktop computers, laptops can be brought along where ever you go. Since today is the era of the internet, it is only natural for you to buy a laptop that is wifi ready.

When we say wi-fi it means that your laptop is capable of accessing the internet without having to connect it to a particular cable. Most areas today have wifi signals which allow you to surf the net even if you are inside the car.

So if you are a businessman, it is of utmost importance that you buy a laptop that is wifi ready because you will surely need it every time you have to conduct a meeting through video conference.

5. Computer specifications and features. This is the part where you will have to consider the type of processor your laptop has, the hard disk capacity, RAM and other features like the CD ROM, USB drives and many more. The speed and functionality of your laptop will depend on the specifications and the feature it has. So before you buy any laptop, read the specs first. If you find it hard to understand, always ask for an expert's advice.
