Ten Computer Care Tips

We have to admit that computers especially laptops do not come cheap and having them repaired is not cheap either. So here are some ways to care for your computer.

1. The number one enemy of a desktop or a laptop is heat. Overheating is one great way to damage your computer. This is the reason why fans are installed on the processor and on the covers of the CPU.

The fans dissipate the heat providing a cooler environment inside the box. If the processor and the power supply gets overheated, your computer will shut down and you might end up bringing it to the nearest computer shop to have it repaired.

Keep in mind that once a computer experiences a breakdown, it will never be the same again. The same goes for your laptops too. It is advisable that you purchase a cooling pad for your laptop especially if you are using it for long periods.

2. Do not eat while you are using your computer especially when you are eating chips and other junk foods. The crumbs can fall unto the keyboard and it can attract ants and other insects. Also, the oil from these foods can stain the monitor and the keys on the keyboard. It can also stain the exterior of your laptop.

3. Regularly clean your computer especially the keyboard because dust can accumulate in between the keys. Wiping it will also remove food stains you might have left especially on the monitor.

4. When you allocate a space for your desktop PC, put it somewhere away from direct sunlight, close to the power source and of course away from windows.

5. When using your laptop, do not place it in wet areas. Also, do not put your drinks near your laptop because you might accidentally spill it unto your laptop and the number one enemy of computers is water. When water gets into your laptop, it will surely damage all the circuitry and your laptop will shut down.

6. When surfing the net, do not access harmful websites. If a warning pops up, do not even dare access that site because there might be a virus or a spyware waiting to gain entry to your system. So before you surf the net, make sure that your computer has an updated anti-virus and anti spyware software.

7. Always scan your computer. This is important because this will help detect lurking viruses and spywares and you can eliminate them immediately before they can do some serious damage to your computer's operating system.

8. Avoid clicking pop-ups or ad banners when visiting websites. Some viruses are taking the appearance of this too, so once you click them, the viruses will immediately infect your computer.

9. If you don't know where the email is from, do not open it. Remember that a lot of computer viruses have been sent through emails. Some viruses can be so virulent it can wipe out the whole hard drive. So be careful when it comes to anonymous email.

10. Children love to play with computers but in case you are using it for important matters, you might want to keep a more watchful eye when kids are using your computer. They might press the wrong button and all your files will be gone or they might delete something that is not supposed to be deleted and your computer shuts down.
